The Kensington Runestone

Kensington Runestone story

"Hoax or history? On November 8, 1898, a Swedish immigrant farmer, Olof Ohman, and his ten-year-old son say they found a Scandinavian runestone, dated 1362, wedged in the roots of a tree in rural Minnesota. "

Some in academia are furious about this because it's before Columbus's time and not suppose to be possible. I'm watching the History Channel discuss this and it's quite fascinating.

What's also interesting is the Newport Tower (Newport, RI) and how it supposedly was an observatory:

"for viewing celestial events, particularly solstice and equinox rising and setting of the sun and the stopping points of the lunar major and minor swings. The accuracy of these predictions was demonstrated on December 25th 1996 when Douglas Schwartz and James Egan conducted a Christmas vigil to photograph the minor lunar standstill with the rising full moon shining through two of the three windows of the tower. This northern rising alignment is one of the moon’s eight cardinal turning points on its 18.5 year cycle through the sky." ... tower.html

I can't vouch for anything at this time. Though a strong case was made on the History channel.

Some in academia are furious.....

I don't think Scott Wolter is all that concerned about this. I will post more later but for starters a person could watch on youtube the presentation of the "stone" and also, reruns on H2 of his 1st shows, especially on astroarchaeology.

and stay tuned for season two on History2. Things are going to really heat up. Also, i'm reviewing all of the work by Barry Fell.
