What's so funny about that, Cannucky, is that I just set ranks for forum members - and you ARE a hoser.

HA-HA 'Hoser', eh? Well, I am a Canadian at heart even though I was born & raised in Michigan. I'm proud to be a Hoser. :) So, in light of that, and to reflect my opinion of our current government, I've changed my Avatar. "Canada: Looks Better Every Day".

Well yall...

I'm probably the youngest person lurking around this forum. I am twenty-three in Texas.

interesting tid-bit: i've just discovered a burst vessel under my left eye most likely caused by focusing on objects too close to my face for extended periods of time... like books.

uhm well, I would just like to know what these ranks are
What is a lamer? Can't be far off of a hoser! Here are some defintions for hoser

A hoser is someone who types 'c-o-l-o-u-r-s', clicks 'ignore' in spell-check, and feels rebellious. (Gwen Gaddes)

Someone who has a separate section in their wallet for Canadian Tire money. (Gwen Gaddes)

When giving directions, always starts from the beer store. (Keith Dessler)

A hoser drinks a lot of beer and therefore needs to visit the bathroom often, draining the beer with his personal 'hose.' (uncredited)

The article also has a variation on the gas-siphon theory of the word's origins (this time it's an honourary instead of derogatory title), but my favourite definition was "a hoser is someone who wonders what 'hoser' means".

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hoser

Canadian term popularized by the McKenzie brothers referring to someone clumsy or stupid who drinks beer excessivly.

"You hoser, eh!"

2. hoser 101 up, 13 down

Derived from the term used by popular Canadian icons Bob and Doug Mackenzie. The literal definition of a hoser, according to Bob and Doug, is "What you call your little brother when your mom's in the room."

Take off, eh? You're such a hoser.

by Jimmy Sep 5, 2004 email it
3. hoser 81 up, 12 down

slang. 1. noun: (deragatory) an oaf, or simpleton. 2. noun: (friendly) a friend, brother or faithful companion. 3. verb: hose-off; a put-off; go away, leave me; I doubt what you are saying. History: The term originates from a syndicated television comedy about a fictional television station: 'Second City Television Station' or 'SCTV.' Comedy skits on the show were presented as actual programs. One such skit was a program entitled "the Great White North" - the hosts, comedians Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas (portraying Bob and Doug MacKenzie), embellished and exaggerated the stereotypical American image of how Canadians talk and act. The characters (Bob and Doug) drank beer, while bantering back and forth, inflecting their speech heavily with 'eh?' and the occasional 'hoser.'

Back off you hoser!

Come here hoser, I was just kidding.

by dan Nov 28, 2002 email it
4. hoser 30 up, 20 down

Canadian insult or term of endearment.
Bob and Doug Mackenzie from SCTV are believed to have coined the phrase.
lts to refer to someone who has done something stupid or has a history of stupidity. Or sometimes used to refer to other Canadians.

example 1-YOU PUT METAL IN THE MICROWAVE? GOD YOU'RE SUCH A HOSER!

example 2-HAHA I FEEL LIKE SUCH A HOSER SITTIN HERE WATCHIN' REDGREEN SHOW DRINKIN TIM HORTONS IN MY LEAFS JERSEY...

example 3- FLY OFF, YUH HOSER! piss off..f**k off..get lost..you loser/poser/idiot/jackass..

example 4-AW C'MERE YA BIG HOSER AND GIMME A HUG said drunkenly with a keg of molson in hand

by kater Jan 5, 2005 email it
5. hoser 10 up, 9 down

"Hoser" Shortened version of "Hose Head"
A term used to refer to simple minded people that siphon gas from other peoples cars using a hose. The gas money saved can then be used to buy more beer and back-bacon as well as fuel for the Coleman Stove.
Also used as a derogatory remark when refering to an idiot.
Made popular by SCTV's Bob and Doug Mackenzie on the Great White North show.

Take off you Hoser! Get me another beer eh!

6. hoser 21 up, 23 down

Moron, drunken fool, idiot, pudd, etc.

Everyone here is using it wrong in their examples.

It's 'ya', not 'you.'

Like.. Put down your drink and come here, ya hoser.

by erinnn Feb 22, 2005 email it
7. hoser 6 up, 11 down

A clumsy, boorish person, especially an uncouth, beer-drinking man.

Take off eh, ya hoser.

8. hoser 16 up, 21 down

A truely Canadian way to poke of people (or yourself) when one has drunk too much beer.

"You hoser.... I love you too". (while swinging around your bottle of Molson Canadian).

by Nightdove Jul 1, 2004 email it
9. hoser 2 up, 9 down

A Canadian term of both derision and affection, popularized - but NOT invented - by the MacKenzie Brothers (from their "Great White North" segments on the old SCTV programme).

Used as a negative, it basically means "idiot." When used positively, it's a phrase of light endearment.

In both cases, it is most effective when the subject(s) displays stereotypically Canadian attributes.

NEG - "They drank all our beers and smoked all our smokes. What a bunch of Hosers."

POS - "They drank all our beers and smoked all our smokes, but took the ski-doos to get more before the hockey game started. What a bunch of Hosers."
